Lead Trader – Oil & Gas
Job Description
Deal Origination & Commercial Execution: Originate, negotiate, and close trading deals across Crude Oil, Refined Products, and Gas; structure supply, off-take, and spot/term contracts with Nigerian counterparties. Trading Desk Leadership & Risk Management: Direct Senior Traders and Trade Analysts, monitor international/domestic price dynamics, manage credit and counterparty risk exposure, and execute hedging and arbitrage strategies. Regulatory Compliance & Operations: Ensure full compliance with NMDPRA and NUPRC regulatory frameworks, while overseeing trade documentation, shipping/logistics coordination, and trade settlement workflows.
Education & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or related commercial discipline.
Experience Level
7 to 10 years of direct Oil & Gas trading experience within the Nigerian market; proven track record in commercial deal origination, business development, and closing high-value physical/paper transactions across Crude Oil, Refined Products, and Gas; deep established network across Nigerian suppliers, buyers, and financial counterparties; strong technical understanding of hedging strategies, price risk management, arbitrage mechanics, and trade execution; deep regulatory knowledge of local frameworks including NMDPRA (Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority) and NUPRC (Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission)
